Project: Media Centre
Electronic Arts (EA) is the world’s leading independent developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software for advanced entertainment systems such as the PlayStation®2, Xbox™, Gamecube™ and the GameBoy® Advance. Last year, more than 22 EA titles sold over 1 million units.
Designed by Foster & Partners, Electronic Arts' innovative headquarters comprise 100,000 ft of offices arranged around a lakeside glazed street, together with restaurant, bars, media centre and sports facilities.
The newly installed Media Centre at the hub of this top class development combines the latest media technology with the stylish look that you would expect in a Foster designed building.
TouchVision were appointed as the project managers, designers and installation team for this complex project. EA required a flexible, high quality facility for showing games, films and other presentations with outstanding image and sound quality.
The Media wall consists of a 120” diagonal main screen which is flanked by two smaller screens. The main screen is the centrepiece for all major presentations. Centrally controlled content (mpeg moving video or graphics) can be displayed on the two smaller screens to show product launch material or brand reinforcement. In addition the two smaller screens can be used to display left and right player content when using the PlayStation, Xbox or game cube facilities. The 16 channel audio system has Dolby Digital surround sound to the THX specification.
The design of the wall was of utmost importance and reflects and enhances the detail and honesty of materials that characterize the architecture of the Foster building.
Nick Jenner at EA said "We needed a system that would provide the 'Wow' factor but also be user friendly. TouchVision met all our criteria and provided us with a system of the highest quality."
